And of course I am in reference to the Jimmy Buffett concert. Now I'll admit- prior to meeting my wife, I thought the whole Buffett thing was ridiculous. You couldn't have paid me to go to one of his shows. Not that I necessarily had a problem with him, but I just thought the whole Parrotthead thing was...well...silly.
Well, when you meet that special someone, you get indoctrinated into their interests (for example, I got Jenn into trains and aerobics) and she got me into Buffett. Well, I actually went to his concert and, well, it wasn't all that bad. And the next year was better. And so on. This will mark our 5th Buffett concert together.
Now if any of you go, look for me in the lawn, I'll be the sober one dressed casually.
But after listening to him on radio Margaritaville, I have to admit, I have warmed-up to him big time. He actually has some great songs, it's just hard to hear them live because you have to watch for some wino throwing up on you.

I've never been to a Buffet show. I've heard it can be a good time, but I've never gone. A little surprised that he's only doing one show hewre, in years past there have been 3 or 4.
The torch has kind of passed in some ways. many seeking the same "island party" like atmosphere are going to see guys like Kenny Chesney, especially the younger crowd. (I'd go see Kenny again, saw him open for Tim McGraw a few years ago it was a great show)
But, there will always be the parrotheads who will pay any price to get into that one Buffet show a year.

Well we survived. Actually, it went terrific. I was able to score 9th row pavillion for less than face value (it helps to know people who owe you). We were probably 50' from Jimmy, and it's amazing how much more enjoyable it is when you can actually see the band and appreciate the music. Solid show as always, he never does the same show twice. Getting out of the parking lot was a joke, but so be it.
I have but one complaint, and it's the same complaint I register every year- if you don't want your beach ball popped, don't hit it towards me. It's ok at first, but once you've taken 75 of them to the face, it's on.

I'm with you on your original opinion of the Buffett thing, I'd rather get drunk and screw than to to to a concert in a tropical shirt and sing about it.
However, I have undergone a similar musical transformation. My spousoidal unit loves musicals. I used to think musicals involved a bunch of homos dancing and crooning about sinking ships, cockney accents, crap games, or anything else under the sun - and of course there is a lot of truth to that - but now that I've attended a few, I can enjoy most of them. Phantom, Jekyll & Hyde, and Les Miz = Yes! Cats, Titanic, Guys & Dolls = nawwww.....
